What is an IT&E WiFi Hotspot?
IT&E WiFi Hotspots provide high-speed wireless Internet access in convenient public locations such as the airport, coffee shops, shopping centers, malls, restaurants and hotel lobbies. Using either a WiFi 802.11b enabled laptop or handheld device, you can access the Internet at speeds much faster than dial-up. Back to Top

How does the service work?
Throughout each IT&E WiFi Hotspot, access points transmit radio signals wirelessly to your WiFi 802.11b enabled laptop or handheld device. After launching your web browser, a login page appears where you will enter your username and password located on the back of your IT&E WiFi Hotspot Prepaid Wireless Internet Card. Once the information is authenticated, the user is able to connect wirelessly to the Internet. Back to Top

What do I need to access the service?

  1. A Laptop or Handheld Device with WiFi (802.11b) wireless capability.
  2. A Web Browser. Any standard Internet browsing software will do.
  3. An IT&E WiFi Hotspots Prepaid Wireless Internet Card. These special cards can be purchased at any IT&E location or at the IT&E Hotspot nearest you.

How do I make my laptop, pda or handheld device WiFi 802.11b capable?
Most modern laptops, pda’s and pocket pc’s are WiFi capable. You can purchase a Wi-Fi 802.11b wireless networking cards and USB adapters from PC Outlet and other computer and electronic equipment retail stores. Back to Top

I have a WiFi 802.11g card in my laptop/handheld device. Is this compatible?
Most 802.11g cards are compatible with IT &E WiFi Hotspots. Please consult your WiFi card's manual for more information. Back to Top

How fast are IT&E WiFi Hotspots?
Each IT&E WiFi Hotspot provides users with broadband speeds much faster than regular dial up. Connection speeds may vary per IT&E WiFi Hotspot. Back to Top

Do I need to download or install any special software to connect to IT&E WiFi Hotspots?
Aside from your web browser, the only software you may need is the software driver for your WiFi 802.11b wireless network card. IT&E WiFi Hotspots require no additional software. Back to Top

What operating systems are currently compatible with the service?
IT&E WiFi Hotspots are not operating system (OS) specific, and will work with any operating systems as long as there is a compatible, Internet-ready browser such as Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator or Apple Safari. Back to Top

Can I check my email account with the service?
Yes. You are able to check your Talaya email account using Talaya Webmail(www.talaya.com/webmail) and other personal email accounts such as Hotmail, Yahoo, etc... Back to Top

Can I connect using a Macintosh computer?
Yes, IT&E WiFi Hotspots are fully compatible with Macintosh computers. Macs with Apple AirPort cards installed usually require little or no configuration. You will need to set up your Apple AirPort card to select the IT&E WiFi Hotspots network. See the Apple AirPort card documentation for specific instructions. Back to Top

What denominations are available for IT&E WiFi Hotspots Prepaid Wireless Internet cards?
IT&E WiFi Hotspots Prepaid Wireless Internet cards are available in four (4) denominations: 1-hour, 2-hour, 4-hour, and Day Pass. Back to Top

How is the airtime billed?
Airtime minutes begin subtracting after you first activate your card until the specific time allotted is depleted. After your first login session, you have one (1) week to use you card and you can login as many times as you want within this period. Back to Top

Can I receive a refund for unused minutes?
No. You will lose any unused minutes remaining, seven days after your first login session. Back to Top

Can I login on two different computers using the same IT&E WiFi Hotspots Prepaid Wireless Internet card username and password?
No. For security reasons, simultaneous logins are not permitted on a single IT &E WiFi Hotspots card. Back to Top

What is the shelf life of IT&E WiFi Hotspots Prepaid Wireless Internet cards?
The shelf life is 60 days as stated on the back of the card. Back to Top

Are there any session time outs?
Yes. After 15 minutes of inactivity, your Internet connection will timeout. To login again, simply enter your username and password. Back to Top
