What is DSL?
DSL stands for Digital Subscriber Line. DSL refers to the
technology implemented between a customer's home or office
and a telephone company's central office over conventional
copper wires. DSL provides much higher speeds over existing
copper lines than users have traditionally had with technology
like dial up modems. It enables high-speed multimedia services
such as video-on-demand, high-speed Internet access, distance
learning, remote corporate LAN access, and videoconferencing. Back to Top
What is Talaya DSL?
Talaya DSL is IT&E’s
brand new, high-speed internet access service using relatively
new broadband technology
that carries data signals at amazing speeds. Talaya DSL offers
a secure, affordable, high-speed Internet access alternative
to both residential and business Internet users. Back to Top
What are
the advantages of Talaya DSL?
A Talaya DSL connection is a dedicated link to the Internet
that is operational 24 hours a day and enables two general
types of applications -- interactive video and high-speed
data communications. Interactive video includes movies on
demand and other video on demand such as delayed TV segments,
video games, video catalogs, and video information retrieval.
Data communications covers Internet access, telecommuting
or remote LAN access, and specialized network access. It
also gives you some additional capabilities such as running
web servers or e-mail servers.
- High-Speed Connectivity: You'll
be amazed how fast you can download just about anything from
simple files to complex
video clips with the lightning fast speed of Talaya DSL.
- "
Always On" Access: With Talaya DSL, you’ll always
be connected, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
- Cost Effective
Performance: Talaya DSL gives you the benefits of a fast, "always
on" Internet connection at
a fraction of the cost of traditional high-speed solutions.
- Security: Our Talaya DSL service protects
your information and guards your privacy with the most
secure connection
available, using a private telephone line.
Back to Top How does Talaya DSL work?
With Talaya DSL, you are taking advantage of the unused bandwidth
that already exists on your phone line. Regular telephone
service uses less than one percent of the capacity of the
telephone line, leaving the remaining 99 percent of the line
for high-speed data use. This means that you can enjoy a
fast, permanent connection to the Internet, and still have
full use of your telephone. And unlike dial-up services,
Talaya DSL users enjoy a DSL line that is continuously open. Back to Top
Why should I choose Talaya DSL?
Yes, it's true there will be others
that provide ISP services for DSL connections. However, IT&E is the best place
to have your DSL link handled. As a practical matter, taking
care of DSL connections requires a fairly substantial investment
in infrastructure. IT&E has the largest, and most advanced
technical infrastructure of any local ISP including faster
speed servers with a huge backbone to the Internet. Plus,
IT&E offers Talaya DSL service plans and DSL equipment
packages that are affordable, with substantial discounts
offered when customers choose bundled plans that include
long distance and/or wireless service. Back to Top
What is the difference
between Talaya DSL and ISDN?
ISDN and regular modems are technologies
that offer the ability for customers to dial many different
locations for Internet
access or other online services. With Talaya DSL services,
the connection is a permanent, ‘always on’ connection. Back to Top

Talaya DSL?
GTA requires 3 – 5 working days to finalize the setup
for a customer’s DSL service. Within this period of
time, IT&E will assist in activating your DSL line, coordinate
the purchase and installation of the DSL modem and associated
equipment, and set up your Talaya DSL internet account. Back to Top
Can
I use multiple connections on one Talaya DSL account?
Yes, but you will need a router
capable of Network Address Translation (NAT). This will allow
you to use one IP address
(assigned when you login) to network more than one computer
and share the Talaya DSL service. The technical side of hooking
up multiple computers is typically fairly simple. In most
cases, the DSL "modem" can be connected into a
network hub, if available. Back to Top
