Baseball coaches, athletes and enthusiasts alike are in for a real treat this month as IT&E prepares to host a one-day Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Dec. 3 and a two-day Youth and Teen Clinic beginning Saturday, Dec. 10, featuring John Hattig Jr. (JR) who will be instructing on basic and advanced infield, outfield, base running and hitting techniques.
The one-day Coaches’ Clinic will be held on Saturday, Dec. 3 at the Tamuning Senior Citizen’s Hall. Two-day clinics will be held for Youths (ages 9-12) and Teens (ages 13-18). The Youth Clinic will commence at Leo Palace on Saturday, Dec. 10, from 8am-12pm and conclude at Tiyan on Saturday, Dec. 17, from 8am-12pm. The Teen Clinic will commence at Leo Palace on Sunday, Dec. 11, from 8am-12pm and conclude at Tiyan on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2pm-6pm.
Hattig is excited about bringing home his Major League knowledge and training skills . “It’s something that I’ve wanted to do for some time now, I just needed to get the right backing in place. IT&E and I both have the same ideas about giving back to the community, so it’s a perfect fit for this baseball clinic,” Hattig said. “My hope is that by reaching out to our young talent, we can see more of Guam’s athletes develop their skills not only for competition at the local level, but to compete on the National stage as well.”
Registration started on Nov 29 and will end on Wednesday, Dec. 7. Registration forms are available at all IT&E Offices, and payments will be accepted at the IT&E Customer Service Center in Harmon Industrial Park and Sinajana. Registration Fees are as follows: $25/Coaches; $25/Participant; $35/Two Participants; $50/Up to Four Participants. Children under 18 must register with a parent or legal guardian.
Space is limited to the first 100 participants per age group. All proceeds will benefit the Guam baseball community.
“IT&E has long been a staunch supporter of community endeavors including sports and sporting events,” said Joseph J. Perez, IT&E Executive Vice President and General Manager. “We felt that with JR (Hattig) back home during the off-season, there was a tremendous opportunity to provide our young athletes with a unique perspective from the highest level of baseball.”
