WIRELESS LAUNCHES TTY-COMPATIBLE SERVICE
IT&E
Wireless announces the availability of wireless text telephone
(TTY) compatibility services on its network. These services
allow customers with IT&E Wireless service to use select
PCS Phones in conjunction with a portable TTY device to make
and receive calls while on the IT&E Wireless network. The
launch is a significant accomplishment representing the hard
work and dedication of many in the wireless industry and marks
the fulfillment by IT&E of the Federal Communication Commission's
(FCC) requirement for transmission of TTY calls made via wireless
digital networks.
"IT&E is committed to providing advanced
telecommunication services to persons with disabilities," said
Joseph J. Perez, IT&E Vice President/General Manager. "By
having the TTY-capability on the IT&E Wireless network,
we are able to provide TTY users with a clear and valuable
wireless
communication solution."
IT&E currently offers customers
a PCS phone that can be used in conjunction with a portable
TTY device, the Motorola
