IT&E is one of the most innovative and successful
voice and data communications carriers in the region. In the last decade,
IT&E was reportedly the 4th largest U.S. carrier for international
long distance calling. And today, it continues to provide the best quality
of service while maintaining the highest standards and the latest in
technology.
From
an upstart of a quasi-PABX design with only 72 ports in 1983, IT&E's
directors, with undoubtedly mixed talents, were determined to meet
the formidable challenges that lay ahead. Their marketing geniuses
evolved the company into becoming a major player and the most dominant
communications company in Guam. IT&E's network grew to world class
switching systems from notable manufacturers such as AT&T Bell
Labs, Nortel Networks, and Lucent Technologies.
Today, IT&E's switching platforms boast a Lucent
5ESS International Gateway, a Lucent 5ESS Domestic System, and a Lucent
5ESS Wireless Switching system. And, with the installed Signaling Transfer
Point (STP) with digital SS7 signaling— the only one in this
region—IT&E was able to bring the sophisticated technology
of wireless roaming to our island. Combined with ownership in
the undersea fiber optics cables spanning the Pacific and Asia, and
expanding into the fast-paced Internet and Wireless Digital PCS operations,
IT&E is unquestionably the only carrier in this region with a communications
infrastructure that compares the likes of giants like AT&T, MCI
and Sprint. And with its investment into enhanced wireless facilities
with IP switching, IT&E's future will continue to translate into
more success while keeping in pace with the newest technology of our
island.
